As I think of truly loving others, I think of the word: sharing. One might assume that simply means sharing material possessions: food, time, or work. And these are certainly important aspects of demonstrating love to others.
But what about sharing things such as my Plain friends and relatives refer to as the "simple gifts"? And qualities such as joy or cheerfulness, or a meek and gentle spirit, patience, and a peaceful approach to living?
We may find opportunities to lighten someone's difficult journey through life—a single Mom who needs a few hours to herself, an elderly person who yearns for a smiling face and a listening ear, or a grieving friend who craves our caring sympathy. Our kind understanding and willingness to extend to a particular need may go a long way in making someone's day brighter ... and more hopeful. These are just a few ways to live, grow, and make a difference for Christ in this world.
