May 2011

My Dear Reader-Friend,

Happy Mother's Day to you who are mothers and grandmothers! May the day be very special and joyful.

I have sweet memories of my mother who cooked from scratch (does anyone cook like that anymore?) and played beautiful music at the piano and organ. She had a special way with Plain people, because she was raised with Anabaptist values and seemed to understand their sometimes curious ways.

My mother loved God and His people, and as a pastor's wife she was instrumental in praying for and offering encouragement to many people over the years. She was also my best prayer partner—I miss her so much!

Along with this Mother's Day wish, I also want to thank each person involved in my recent book tour, a busy and exciting time meeting so many fans.

While in Oklahoma City, I was also given a behind-the-scenes tour of the Mardel Christian & Education Headquarters and treated to lunch. Delightful!

I'm so grateful to the sales reps, retailers, my tour manager, Steve Oates, Bethany House's Fiction Marketing Manager, Debra Larsen, my long-time editor, Julie Klassen, and my publicist, Noelle Buss. And to my faithful reader-friends who stood in lines at stores or prayed for me from afar, I cannot thank you enough for being so caring and devoted.

If my tour didn't come to your city, perhaps it will next September for the release of Book 3: The Mercy. Please check my web site and my official Facebook page for specific information in August.

Thanks, too, for the millions who watched "Beverly Lewis' The Shunning" on the Hallmark Channel, making it the #1 cable movie on the day it first aired and #2 for the entire week. More information is forthcoming, so please stay tuned!

I'd love to hear your feedback on Amish Prayers, a real treasure of a book—and the perfect gift for Mother's Day.

Presently, I've started writing my new series, available in April 2012. Many are thrilled that it's set in Hickory Hollow, the fictional Amish community where "The Heritage of Lancaster County" began in 1997. I'm so excited!

Blessings for Mother's Day and a joyous springtime!
