"Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods." – Psalm 95:2-3

Reflection:

To be thankful is an act of worship, as my pastor-father often stated in his sermons.

When we offer thanksgiving to our great God, as the scripture states above, we are extolling Him—we're praising God with enthusiasm and passion, holding nothing back.

And what better time to offer that praise than during this month of gratitude? We count our blessings, and not only the things we view as good—the provision of health, prosperity and happiness—but also the trials, too—the heartache, and the disappointments that impact our lives, which can strengthen our faith, make us more compassionate, more generous...more tenderhearted.

Will you join me in thanking our heavenly Father for His remarkable creation; for being all-knowing and everywhere present; for always extending His love to us His most precious creation; for never leaving us alone; for doing all things well; for His great power against the rulers of darkness; for the miraculous gift of grace?

So grateful for you!

"Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let the trees of the forest sing for joy." – Psalm 96:11-12

Reflection:

Happy Autumn!

Here, from my writing desk, I can see aspen gold sprinkled all across the foothills, out my west-facing windows. Yes, it’s that time of year when people from all over the world travel to see the breathtaking dazzle of Colorado’s aspen trees.

So, if it’s the start of October’s month of sunny days and chilly nights, then it’s time to thank all of you who turned out for my recent book tour to the beautiful Carolinas. I should have kept a notebook of the many ways my readers told me that my books are making a different in their lives. Truly heartwarming—and what an encouragement, too. Thank you to every book buyer, librarian, reader-friend, and my tour manager and publicists who so faithfully accompany me each and every tour. I am so grateful, and blessed.

And…if you’re anywhere within driving distance of Lancaster County on Saturday, October 21, at 2 PM, I’d love to meet you at my free Author Event at the Lititz Public Library at 651 Kissel Hill Rd., Lititz, Pa. (You can learn more and RSVP here.) I’ll share about my writing life, and the idea behind The Proving, as well as signing The Proving and The Beverly Lewis Amish Coloring Book, available for purchase. I’m thrilled to be coming home…and to see many of my dear reader-friends!

My latest novel has received high acclaim and a starred review for Publishers Weekly, as well. My brand-new Amish coloring book is bringing hours of joy and relaxation to thousands of my readers, as well. What a happy start to autumn, jah?

On another happy note, I’m currently working through revisions for my spring 2018 novel, The Road Home, available April 3—another intriguing stand-alone novel set deep in Amish farmland (two settings: St. Joseph County, Michigan and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania).

Autumn blessings!

"The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." – Psalm 118:14

Reflection:

There’s something different about the way the clouds look here in the early evening, hinting of autumn…and the weighty feeling in the air, nearly indescribable, but so reminiscent of last year at this time, and the year before that. You get the picture. Here in Colorado’s high country, aspen gold will soon dazzle the foothills, daylight will shorten, and fall will be upon us.

And…so will be my Fall 2017 Book Tour to the Carolinas where I’ll be autographing The Proving and The Beverly Lewis Amish Coloring Book! I’m thrilled for this opportunity to return, after six long years, to this beautiful part of our country.

Many of you have been reading my novels since the release of The Shunning twenty years ago this summer, and I’ll be looking forward to meeting you and getting acquainted at bookstores and library events between September 7 through 16! You can view the entire tour schedule right here.

My fascination with The Proving has to do, in part, with its setting on Leacock Road—very close to the area where I grew up in Lancaster County. And considering that the story revolves around an authentic Amish B&B, what could be more appealing? Think: hot homemade fluffy-light pancakes with real whipped cream, topped with hand-picked blackberries.

Mandy Dienner, formerly Amish, in order to claim her inheritance, is required to run her deceased mother’s B&B for an entire year…all under the scrutiny of the Amish ministers and her once-beloved twin sister, who betrayed her. Tall order, jah? (Hint: The betrayal is the reason Mandy ran away five years ago.) Okay, I’m getting ahead of myself!

On another note, if you’re also curious about my writing schedule: I just finished The Road Home, available April 3, 2018—another intriguing stand-alone novel set deep in Amish farmland (two settings: St. Joseph County, Michigan and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania).

I wish you many blissful hours of reading ahead.

May our dear Lord Jesus be your Joy and your Song!

“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” ~ Deuteronomy 31:6

Reflection:

Are you ever tempted to move forward on your own, instead of waiting for divine wisdom? The truth is, taking one small step at a time, in His time and way, is the better way. Then, He alone will guide you on the path you are to walk.

On a different note, my fall 2017 book tour will run from September 7 through 16. I’m looking forward to meeting my wonderful reader-friends at bookstores and libraries in North and South Carolina, and signing personalized copies of The Proving, my new stand-alone novel set in Lancaster County Amish farmland.

A very happy August to you!
